And then, right when he has them reaching for their hankies, he turns it around with a quickfire punchline that’s tailored to an audience of close family friends. Everyone present seems to get the gag immediately, but for the benefit of any stragglers, he tops it off with a cheeky clarification, and squeezes out two laughs for the price of one at Dad’s - and, crucially, his own expense.
