I’d like to thank Linda’s mother and father for providing this wonderful day for us. It is not only your generosity, Alan and Carol, for which we are grateful, but the enthusiastic spirit with which you have organised things. Thank you so much.

Being a staunch traditionalist, I did the time-honoured, decent thing when it came to proposing to Linda. I went down on one knee, then the other, then I made puppy dog eyes and asked her father if he would pay for the wedding. He agreed, so thank you Alan for laying on this wonderful reception.
